Even besides the talent. His personality, Southern dude, humble, well-spoken, and the way he quietly carries that chip on his shoulder. I hope he’s a Jag for a long, long time

I don’t think it’s hate but more so people that some people are disappointed.

When you’re tabbed a generational prospect (which he 1000% still is), they expect you to come in right away and be elite. He was compared to Manning/Elway/Luck but it’s like they wanted Trevor to be them right away. He’s still so young and his growth was stunted by the worst coaching situation in history. Then you add in Stroud who is coming in and playing very well. That’s what they expect from Lawrence.

Lawrence is elite. He’s 4th in EPA and 6th in success rate. The TDs weren’t there early but I think we might just see him surge here at the end.

By next year, or, possibly by the end of this year and early into next year, a lot of his deniers and haters will be singing his praises, admitting they were wrong and they'll be kissing his [BLEEP].

It's inevitable. We all see this kid play every gameday. It's inevitable that he does turn into that box score destroyer that the media covets. I just think people keep overlooking simple things here though.

1. Doug preaches complimentary football.
2. We're winning games in a variety of ways.

You don't need a QB to drop back 50 times per game and sling it for 350+ yards and 2+ TD's when you're not giving up 300 yards, 2+ TD's and failing to force turnovers on defense. The reality? When they've needed him to make plays to stay in games or win games? He's found ways to do that.

In a sense? I feel like he's more along the lines of John Elway. I would drop the Manning stuff. Manning didn't have the legs that Lawrence has. John didn't put massive passing numbers, didn't always have the greatest TD:INT ratio until much, much later on in his career, but, he just kept winning games. He would make the plays with his legs when the team needed it.

Now, in a pass happy era? Yeah, Lawrence is probably going to be a guy that gets you 20+ TD's through the air (Sure as [BLEEP] would help if his guys didn't drop dimes in the endzone or inside the redzone or turn it over when in a rhythm). But, this takes time.

Six games left for him keep putting up numbers like he did with the tacks and tinhorns and it wouldn't shock me if he ultimately finishes similar or better than he did last year statistically. Again, though, the only stat that matters in this sport is wins. He's been racking those up for a franchise that's been historically BURIED in L's.

Not to mention Peyton came in the league at 22, but also had Marshall Faulk and Marvin Harrison, Mahomes had Kelce and Tyreek. By the numbers he's already better than Elway. Elway's MVP year he only had 3200 yards, 19 TDs, 12 INTs, and a 54% comp. Though to be fair he only played in 12 games that year and it was a different era. Luck was a bit of an exception but even he still had Reggie Wayne and a rookie TY Hilton. Stroud seems to be an exception as well but also has Tank who's a monster and Collins is no slouch either.

The one thing THEY ALL had in common, was/is a stable, competent coaching staff to start their development. Do we honestly think Stroud would look this good with Urban Meyer as his HC right now? I doubt it.

Because the only fans of the teal team reside in or around the 904. If we had a national fanbase like the cowpokes or pack, he'd be every dang where.

Once we start consistently winning and not putting up stinkers of games, the attention will come. Just be glad you can say you were on the bandwagon before it was the trendy thing to do.

I live in Ohio, near the Indiana border and actually work in Indiana. The Clots fans I work with have died down quite a bit. A few are starting to realize Jacksonville is going to be an issue for them for a while. I haven't really seen that in the 12 years I've worked here. Its kinda refreshing lol

Do you watch any Texas Longhorns games by chance? Or Texas A&M games?

Curious if you have and what your thoughts are on Sweat, Murphy and Collins on defense for the Longhorns and Jackson and Turner on the Aggies defense. Those five guys all play on the defensive line as either 1-tech / 3-tech players (inside). Not on the edge.
Your presence here makes you all de facto residents of the 904.

I live in Maryland and was at Wegmans Sunday morning. Saw two older women with Jags winter hats on and the 3 of let out a little "Duuuuvvvvaallll".

I love seeing the random Jags fan up here and the confused looks when both of us yell "Duuuvallll!" from across the room/store/whatever lol

That's my favorite part too.

When people do find out I'm a Jags fan, they usually go "Really? Jags?!"

My response is almost always "Well it's much better than being a Commanders fan."
It’s a somewhat lonely existence down here in Tampa Bay for me. But Bucs fans are mostly good. They now what it’s like to have a franchise that bumbles for years before getting it right

#DefactoTillWeDie
I only joined this forum (was a non-mod, rookie poster for several years) in 2009 because I had moved away from Jacksonville to NYC for work in 2002 and missed not having the Jags banter with friends and acquaintances I had once enjoyed.

I rooted for the team from NYC for 14 years - traveling south once per season at minimum to attend a game as well as any games in NY/NJ.

This place is great for displaced or otherwise far flung fans of the team.
Since I now have a business to run in SWFL and travel 100 days per year for my other job, I still lean on this board for my interactions concerning the one team I am truly a fanatic about.

Whether you live three miles from the stadium or halfway across the planet, if you are here discussing the Jags on the regular, we are all DUVAL.
I might be the only Jags fan in France, buts that's fine  Blush

Do the French say Jag-U-Wahs as well? Or is that strictly a UK thing?

Whenever I hear French, I can’t help but think of Willie the Groundskeeper’s frank but apt nomenclature for the French people, “cheese eating surrender monkeys”
