100%. If he continues to climb while Allen and Burrow struggle, it'll be an interesting mainstream topic all year. I already said I think he's in the MVP race this year. It'll be some [BLEEP] if he manages to knock off Mahomes this Sunday, Allen in London and Burrow on MNF this year.
and it is funny how some fans, thought we made a mistake moving on from Mishew when we went 1-15. lawrence outside of 1 or 2 passes looked really good, just need to look at other wrs not named Ridley, Kirk was wide open a few times and choose the hard Ridley throws instead. Not mad but we left points out there cause of it.

I don't think anyone thought moving on from Minshew to Trevor was a mistake. Or maybe they did, they probably did.

I did want to keep him as the backup over Bethard, but in hindsight it was probably better for Trevor to have that vet here instead.

There were people who wanted Minshew to start the beginning of the year so Trevor could learn from the sideline..... (really dumb take)

This fanbase inflates Minshews actual ability like no other. Dude is so average to below average which is why he went from backing up rookie Trevor to backing up Jalen to backing up rookie Richardson.

It was fun though while it lasted. He had his moments. We were coming off a high in 2017 and then had a horrible low in 2018. Went all in with Foles and then he goes down in week one after a beauty of a TD pass to Chark.

He hasn't been able to recapture that magic anywhere else since then. I think why most of us loved him so much, and still do to be fair, is because of his personality. It's the same affinity for Blake Bortles.

It was hard not to like those guys because they were:

A. Tough S.O.B's
B. Scrappy
C. Really had no talent around them on offense to thrive

Jacksonville has learned from these mistakes. They got lucky landing Lawrence but they didn't also sit back and say, "Here kid, this is a box of matchsticks. I need you to build me a mall with it".

They broke the bank for him. They signed multiple receivers on offense, traded for his future and now viable Alpha receiver in Ridley, they signed Engram and extended him. They drafted Harrison at RT, they drafted Little at LT/LG, they drafted Fortner at Center. They signed Scherff. They at least tried to build around him immediately.

Instead of throwing him to the [BLEEP] wolves the way these other guys were for the most part. Let's not forget. The guy that traded Ramsey to LA and had Tristan Wirfs and Justin Jefferson staring at him to improve his offense immediately for a guy like Minshew opted to backfill with the likes of Henderson and Chaisson.

Yeah that was mostly it, but didn't someone posit the idea of trading the pick and building around Minshew?  Just burn the whole organization to the ground if that had happened.

Yeah but with them we most likely wouldn't have been bad enough to get Trevor. Caldwell was playing the long game.

Maybe. After Khan spared him twice I wouldn't blame him for being confident and thinking that way going into that draft. Ultimately it all worked out the way it did. I am grateful for it. Landing Lawrence here could put this team on the map. It genuinely feels like we have a shot at a Superbowl now.

Yea, I remember a sportswriter making the case we should trade the pick to Carolina because he played at Clemson.  That poop went on for a bit too. Like we were obligated to do it to make them a regional power lol....   Lots of nut cases are sportswriters, they don't have to just be fans.
This young man is coming down clutch as well!
I was hesitant in putting trust in Lawrence after his first year.
As last season progressed, I really started to believe in Pederson and what he was doing with the team. This year I'm all in on Lawrence, but some of his throws... Lord have mercy. My butt puckers up so much when he fits them throws in some of the tightest spots. I think its safe to say Lawrence is believing in himself more and more. Hes not afraid to make that near impossible throw and I love it.

Those are the throws that separate the elites from the Uncle Rico's.

It was Vic.

Basically there was so much hullaballoo over how can't miss this kid was going to be, that anyone with a hole at QB would be willing to offer their franchise for the opportunity to move up.

He was called out for the take, and rightfully so. There's an undeniable difference between building a franchise around a QB like Tlaw vs. a QB like Pickett and 2 or 3 extra late first-rounders.

He wasn't afraid before, it's just that the offense was so vanilla and unimaginative (and lacking WR talent) that he couldn't complete those kinds of throws. No one on the team during the Urban Error could've made the catch that Zay made on Sunday. Heck, none of them could even run the out and get distance like Ridley does. Mix in some great talent with our coach? Results!
Someone in this thread (or the game thread) was asking to see other angles of the throw TL made to Rid that threaded the needle between two colts defenders (who collided)

This one may be the best I've seen, posted by a jags sideline photog who grabbed video of it with his SLR - so it isn't in the all 22 or broadcast tape

Ridley saw him get hit, he knew he better catch that ball.
