Their backup linemen are winning their one on one protection assignments better than three of our starters.

Simple as that.

They're also a run heavy team and that's probably how they're coached as back-up's. Doesn't hurt when your running back is averaging 5.5 YPC and the back-up is averaging 8.0 YPC. It was also against a beat up and demoralized Bengals team.

If a few passes are caught and a fumble doesn't happen against the tinhorns this team is probably 3 - 1. That's not on the QB, but, hey, I get it. Lawrence is the sucks, he's got the poo on him.

Have a good week man. We'll see you Sunday!
Don't get it twisted, I am thrilled we are 2-2, it could be worse(Colts game had me sweating for a minute). I will say, Trevor is the best QB this team has ever fielded to date and it's not close. I am kind of tired seeing all the over hyping and PFF nonsense where in year's past people would dismiss it tbh. I still do, it is a useless metric.

When you see a guy miss 1 wide open TD to Kirk, and another on 4th down where both are gimme TDs, you question if he fully understands what he is looking at out there. Sure, the defense made sure this game was never close, but against the true top tier teams in the AFC you likely won't have that luxury. The greats know what the defense AND his offense is doing. I don't expect the dude to be perfect, but you HAVE to hit the easy ones. Trevor routinely misses them. Our offense looks like it's painful to execute right now, nothing looks easy or smooth. Blame the line all you want, but the other teams in the NFL deal with it and look much, much cleaner. I do still hold out hope that Cam returns, we move one of our current tackles inside, and we gain a tick or two for Trev and the offense takes off. We need it if we want to be contending for a super bowl.

Is there a countdown clock I don't know about that indicates the moment Lawrence will turn into a pumpkin if you don't deem him elite? LOL
He's not on Mahomes level and he's never going to improvise like that. Not his game.
He needs at least an average NFL line to be as consistent as you are "requiring." Just like 95% of NFL quarterbacks always have. He has rare talents, but improvising and buzzing around like Kyler Murray or Mahomes when protection fails is never going to be a trait for him.

He's missed some open receivers. And he's 23 years old. You know as well as I do he hits Kirk for that TD yesterday if pressure from the left side doesn't force him to roll away from the play and away from the primary target.
It's amazing how many plays are being left out there because he doesn't half a second more time.

The mistakes he's making are minuscule when compared to those made elsewhere in our offense thus far - and compared to the general crapshow that is our OL.

He's not going to miss open receivers in 17 games. It should eventually level out between the line inching toward better play (hopefully) - the staff continuing to find ways to mitigate the bad line play - and Trevor occasionally transcending the bad protection.

The only question is whether or not he finishes the year on IR or not. He's being murdered while releasing completions and incompletions the past 3 weeks way too often.

It's seems as he is not seeing the field quick enough like he did last half of the season the year before.

Nah, 13 points is the greatest show on grass. It will be plenty against teams like Buffalo and Miami. He didn't miss 2 easy touchdowns either, or continue to struggle in the red zone. Don't let the fact that KC has more WR drops than the Jaguars and Mahomes has double the TDs fool you either. Trevor Lawrence is the best QB in the NFL brother! Don't worry at all, Trevor is on pace (checks stats) for a SEVENTEEN TOUCHDOWN SEASON!

Edit : Also, Trevor does have one of the worst(2.0) "time to throw" in the league, sure. So does Herbert (2.2), Lamar(2.2) and Tua(2.2) along with a slew of QBs in that 2.2 range. Trevor certainly could be playing much better, and my whole beef has been - IF you want to crown this man elite, I need to see it.. He hasn't shown it to any of us yet consistently enough to call him elite, or a top QB. He simply isn't right now. Good? Sure, top 10? Mayybe... Elite(Allen, Mahomes tier)? No lol.

Allen has streaks of great play. And then he turns back into a pumpkin. Of all the qbs not named Mahomes, there is not one I’d rather have than Trevor. Herbert has put together a good 2 or 3 games this year. He’s the only one I see that is Trevor’s equal right now.

The magnificent play to Agent Zero yesterday is about what we can expect with this line. He broke the ankles of the free rusher, rolled, and then got killed while delivering a perfect pass. I just don't see him lasting the whole season when he's hit like that 10 times a game. The Bengals and Jags are the same, great skill players who can't be effective without an improvement in the trench.

That's the giant elephant in the room at the moment. We all see the Oline struggle and Lawrence is working around it as best he can but he's getting hit a lot for early in the season. He's damn tough and he will be willing to take the hit by holding it an extra second for a deep ball but he's scrambling on a lot of plays.

And if the Olines problems cost us Lawrence, then people will be angry.

I'm already angry, this is malfeasance on the part of the GM against the entire organization.
If Trevor gets injured Baalke deserves all the blame. And in my opinion he needs to be canned.

now now, I don't believe any of the receivers on the roster played when Bort was here.

Harrison (77) is a rookie...

I guess he should have figured it all out on his own?  Maybe the coaches were just assuming that Pass Blocking success is a matter of Osmosis...

The more I watch this video, the more I wonder what the hell the OC is doing to ensure the O-Line and QB know where the pressure is coming and how to shift protection...

This play looks like something from a pick up game at the local park.

This video isn't the fault of the talent on the O-Line.  The O-Line is just unorganized and not well coached when the D runs stunts.  That's not a talent issue...

They just put Harrison, a rookie, out on an island. For crying out loud... Just unbelievable...

It's a DB blitz.

Not really Harrison's responsibility.

Trevor would typically have to audible protection to block him. (RB or TE)  Safeties and Nickels line up near the line like that but often drop back instead of blitzing. Hard to know which will happen. We do it a lot too defensively.

This is just a really, REALLY good play from Trevor. Which is why it was posted in the Trevor Lawrence thread.

Well Harrison allowed zero pressures sooooo…..
@NYC4Jags

It was absolutely a great play by Trevor Lawrence. Thanks for posting it. Dude's great. The pass protection is terrible on this play. The O-Line looks completely lost/disorganized. I just wonder why this group of linemen who've mostly been around eachother and the same coaches look so lost...

With that said, this was a great play by Lawrence and Ridley.
T Law moving from 3rd to 2nd rated pff QB after week 4.
Lawrence should be 1 if you consider the pass protection. Almost as bad as the giants line. The are telling the Jags oline to hold their beer.

Bc he only has one second per route before Trevor has to throw or get hit lol
Will be interesting to see how the line performs this week regardless of where they put Cam/Little.
