You guys are overreacting a bit. It's going to get ugly in the Middle East for a while, but we're not getting our troops involved.

Not only that... we all know Biden isn't running this thing. The guy can barely move and talk. He probably takes more naps than makes policy decisions. That knowledge won't keep Moderates from blindly supporting the next establishment candidate because "this one will be different." It's such a joke.

I agree that Biden doesn't have much influence over this situation. Our military have been war gaming scenarios similar to the last six months for at least 2 decades, probably 3.
Iran and the Palestinians each face a similar choice which has not fundamentally changed in that time.  "Shall we build lives on the land we have, or shall we throw them away to try for control of Jerusalem (or Mecca)?"
Our leaders, across NATO, have continued to present that choice.  I dont need the next candidate, I guess in 2028, to be much different in this area.

Not unless Iran or their proxys start targeting our troops overseas again and we hit back. That will be seen as an act of aggression somehow tied to Israel and poop will hit the fan.

And as I said before we're already involved along with the RAF in shooting down drones and/or missiles if the BBC was correct in their reports. Terrorists don't care if our posture was defensive, they just care that we were involved.

Isn't it America's 'duty' to defend Israel if they are attacked or do we just send them money for their defensive capabilities? Honest question. Maybe I just go look it up. I don't remember much from high school history anymore but I definitely don't remember learning about our part in helping the Jewish people settle where they are. I've read some stuff here and there but I haven't read a definitive book about it. I have just started reading a book about Golda Meir, Israel's first female Prime Minister. I assume it will cover this topic.

The United States calls Israel an ally and has sent them material aid since they started out.  There is no official treaty spelling it out like with NATO though.  There is a treaty saying that we will give Egypt a similar amount of aid to what we give Israel, the Camp David accord.

Israel has nukes because of a civilian project with France... but do you think the US didn't help with the science to weaponize the plutonium clandestinely?

I think we are inexorably attached to Israel.

It was long ago and probably doesn't matter, but I think historians will have a tough time figuring it out because plausible deniability was probably scrupulously maintained at each step.

South Africa (old white supremacist South Africa) also played a role in Israel getting nukes.

Yeah... sure... pretend I was talking about our military strategies. That's who's running the country. Our generals.

We're talking about geopolitics, not just military strategy.  But yes, there are things the generals are willing to do and things they are not willing to do.  There are things they are ready to do at a moment's notice and things they haven't planned yet.  If your goal is "let there not be war", and that probably really is the best goal, then by definition you are not taking the initiative and may seem to be caught flat-footed, even if you have carefully displayed your massive capabilities to your enemies.

Everybody knows that it did happen.  She got paid, so she denied that there was an affair.  Then for some reason she decided to come clean about it.

But that's not the crime he's charged with, anyway.

That's a funny reply: "Who are you going to believe, the fake blonde with the big boobs, or Stormy Daniels?"
