Libertarians are mostly guided by the declaration of Independence and Washington's Farewell Address.  

Libertarians have always been pro-peace, and always wanted the US to be uninvolved in wars in other parts of the world.

They have always been opposed to immigration restrictions except for known criminals.  The US had no immigration restrictions until George Washington had been dead and buried for 90 years.

They have always been in favor of putting whatever you want in your body, whether it's marijuana, fentanyl, or hormones.  This country had no food, drug, or medical regulations until George Washington had been buried for a century.

Libertarians have always been in favor of gay rights.  Trans rights are a new issue that divides them.
They have always been divided about abortion, but lean more on the pro choice side.  George Washington and Ben Franklin had gay acquaintances and employees and made a point to pretend not to notice, but if it was shoved right in their face they would be offended.  Ben Franklin included a recipe for pennyroyal tea in his Almanac.
