Not federal.
We don't play that game in FL.  Most states don't.  NY, Chicago, and MA can mind their own business.  Don't be minding it for them.
I don't vote there.
You don't vote there.
So let's confine our conversation to the federal level policies we actually vote for.

Its amazing how all the Trumpsters were just earlier today lecturing me about leaving it to the states and letting the states decide when Dear Leader says the states should decide, then they forget all about it and blur the lines between state money and federal money on a different issue that Dear Leader wants to take a harder line on.

Do better, Sneakers.

Use their tax funds.  LOL, how can that be?  You said these people are not a drain and pay their own way.  Would you like your post number to help refresh your highly selective memory?

How would you know where I vote?  Regardless of where I vote, if I own property in another state that's using tax dollars on illegal migrants, it becomes my business.

Maybe you should prove yourself capable of keeping up with my B game, before you ask for my A game.

Some states choose to let migrants be a drain on their government funds.
Florida does not.
The federal government does not.
You can sell your land in that other state if you don't like how they spend tax money.
You're coming across like a cat who got itself stuck in a paper bag.  Just calm down and back up.  Flailing won't help.

Note that I'm essentially agreeing with the idea that security at the border needs to be tighter and many migrants need to be deported.

I'm just trying to get you to see who the actual villain is. Who is actually fighting for open borders to continue and why.

Illegals get healthcare paid for in Florida, that money comes from the Medicaid coffers. $566 million last year to be specific.

The federal government does not.....YET, but those states that do are already clamoring for federal assistance.  What do you think will happen if Harris is elected?

Thanks for telling me I can sell my out-of-state real estate.  That never would have occurred to me.

A tighter border and deportations???  Careful there, you're starting to sound like a Republican.

Trump has led the fight to close the border to illegal immigrants, so obviously, he isn't the villain.  Conversely, Biden put out the welcome mat and his Border Czar doesn't even know where the border is.  Which policy do you want four more years of?

The emergency rooms are paid by the State of Florida, out of money Florida got from the Feds, when they treat uninsured illegal immigrants.
This is not medical insurance. It is not medicaid.
We do not pay for them, or their kids, to see doctors unless it's an emergency.
But it is a form of welfare payment that they might receive just like any other poor person, and it is a drain.  Fair point.
But it's really, really small compared to all the things they don't get.  Again.  No section 8.  No food stamps.  No medicaid. No Obamacare. No TANF.  No EITC.
So consider that.  Add in public education and free school lunch.  They get that too.
Now add in the taxes they do pay.  They pay sales tax and gas tax.  They pay their landlord's property tax.  They help pay the property tax of every business they patronize.
They're not a drain on public money.  Except in these rare places that recently saw these migrant surges brought on by forced busing, they pay more in taxes than they take in benefits.

I'm not saying this is good.  I'm just saying that the public expenditure isn't the reason to be upset about it.

Be upset about the higher rent. That's real and affects a lot of people.
Be upset about the lower wages.  That's also real and affects a lot of people.
Don't be upset about them taking more they pay in or being drains on the system.  It's usually not even true.

And once you get this, again, it will open your eyes to the actual villains in the story.  It's not big welfare, white-hating Democrats trying to lock in more votes.  It's landlords and it's employers.  And together they own both parties in Congress.  So voting Trump in will not actually fix it. It will be very temporary, very theatrically applied, medicine.
You don't know what you're talking about.

I know your head implodes every time you see "Trump", so let's eliminate his name and focus on Democrat v. Republican policies.
Democrat policy = open border = 10,000 illegal migrants x 365 days x 4 years = 14,600,000 undocumented, unvaccinated migrants during the next administration.  (I won't even count Feb. 29th)
Republican policy = closed border = 0 illegal migrants

Tell me again who the villains are?
Just think, had he rightfully won, Trump would be out of politics in a few months. They never anticipated losing Twitter. They never anticipated him coming back. They got it all wrong.

Of course I am definitely in favor of controlling the border a lot better, I agree with Trump on that, but the US receives 50 million tourists from other countries each year, and the largest portion of illegal immigration is from people who come in as tourists and never go home.  The only way you could have 0 illegal immigrants would be to shut off tourists from other countries.

What you don't understand, because you haven't listened to what Trump has said and have only heard the MSM cuts, is that Trump isn't against immigration. He is fine with immigration as long as people are vetted and are able to be productive and not a drain.

You know they have SS#s, driver licenses, etc now. There is no way to tell if they are illegal at first glance and the federal government won't check or won't let the states check. Taxes and welfare are being spent on them.

States aren't choosing to house them because they want to. The laws say they have to while their claim is being processed. There are also requirements to help them for X amount of time.

There are easy ways to fix the tourist over staying.

It may require visas and other countries would then do the same, unless they wanted to push people to visit them.

Who are the ones not leaving? They aren't the vacationers, they are ones that are claiming to visit relatives. Holding those people who are harboring them accountable will go a long way to fixing a lot of the issues that people think are unsolvable.

Trump should announce a day 1 plan, $10,000 per illegal turned in. Watch how many family members start turning them in. Deport them and you saved a ton of money instead of giving them $2,500-5,000/m and that is before any extras they get.

If you read my post objectively, without preconceived notions, you will note that I said "policy".  We'll never hit zero, but that doesn't mean that shouldn't be our goal.  When I coached Little League, I told the kids I didn't expect them to catch every ball hit their way, but I expected them to try to catch every ball.  The Democrats aren't trying at all, in fact it's just the opposite, they're welcoming the illegal immigration.  Democratic border policy is incredibly irresponsible governing and presents an ever-increasing burden on the legal populace on a multitude of fronts.

Do you have any research to support the tourist assertion?

Those are state laws, not federal.  Most states do not help migrants like this.  The states can choose to change their laws at any time.

Where Does Illegal Immigration Mostly Occur? Here's What The Data Tell Us : NPR

AP FACT CHECK: Visa overstays outpace border crossings | AP News

Illegal immigration to the United States - Wikipedia

"Between 2007-2018, visa overstays have accounted for a larger share of the growth in the illegal immigrant population than illegal border crossings"

Modes of Entry for the Unauthorized Migrant Population | Pew Research Center

Some of these sources say it's about half, one says it's slightly less than half, and the others say it's more than half.  Regardless, to control illegal immigration, we need to do a lot more than just close the Mexican border.  Like I said, closing the Mexican border will not in itself solve the illegal immigration problem.  Somewhere around half of the illegal immigrants in the US came in legally and didn't leave.

Do you have any research to support the tourist assertion?

C,mon, you're smarter than this.

Your "research" contains no data from the Biden administration, making it obsolete and irrelevant.  Forget outdated historical percentages because that's not the world we're living in today and focus on the hard numbers.  How many migrants have entered the country illegally in the last four years?
