And because it's a republic, certain fundamental rules can override the will of the people. IF there was an insurrection on January 6th, and IF anyone who had previously taken an oath to uphold the Constitution participated in that insurrection, those people would be disqualified from holding office again, regardless of the outcome of any democratic election.
