Dang y'all. I just watched a 9 minute video of Jon Stewart ripping the Senate a new one regarding their lack of care and concern for veterans. They passed the PACT Act I think it's called and evidently it screws veterans over. I haven't looked it up yet.

Just look up Jon Stewart C Span. There is strong language for those who care not to hear such things. I don't care. Watch it. I don't agree with his politics but I have always appreciated his advocating for veterans.
Based on my recent experience over the past year or so with various service people and contractors, I would say we need a lot more competition for jobs.  We either need a good hard recession or we need to let more immigrants into the country because people really don't give a damn anymore what kind of service they provide.  They feel much too secure in their jobs because they know they can't be replaced because of the labor shortage.

I had a guy come to my house yesterday to install something.  He looks around a little and then he says he needs a part that he didn't have on his truck and he'd "be right back."  And he leaves and he never comes back and he doesn't call me to tell me he's not coming back or when he's coming back and I can't get ahold of the guy.

And he knows no one can do a damn thing about that kind of behavior because there's no one around to replace him.

What we are seeing in the general labor/service industry is what we have been seeing for years in other occupations. Take educators for instance, with the tenure status. Seems in many cases they cannot be replaced because of it, hence there are many, not all of course who suck at their job. Lawyers and doctors because their education is so long and costly they pick and choose what work that take on, many of those folks suck at their jobs. It's human nature and a lot of humans just suck.
We are just removing supply and demand in this country. It's not rocket science.
'What Does It Matter?' Paul Krugman Shrugs Off Concerns About Whether US Is in a Recession

Economist Paul Krugman argued on Sunday the United States is not in a recession and it doesn’t matter anyway.

“None of the criteria that real experts use says we’re in a recession right now, and what does it matter?” he dismissively told CNN’s Brian Stelter. “The state of the economy is what it is. Jobs are abundant, although maybe the job market is weakening. Inflation is high, although maybe inflation is coming down. What does it matter whether you use the “r” word or not?”

Don't get me wrong, a good Al-Qaeda goon is a dead Al-Qaeda goon. But does anyone else get the impression Zawahiri's rubout was an attempt to resurrect Biden's numbers? Anywho, Biden's enfeebled announcement looked more like he authorized the strike to get Zawahiri off his lawn.
This dude is one of the biggest charlatans, imo.

Which dude?  Why can't you use the reply button?
Because I don't want to. Paul Krugman.
Krugman's been phoning it in ever since he got that Nobel prize. He should either keep his economic mind sharp or get into a new field. Brewing beer is fun. Many other possibilities for him.

Agreed. Krugman is guided purely by politics these days rather than economic doctrine.

In other news, Pelosi went to Taiwan. Kudos to her and the White House for not backing down to China.

How does this guy even get airtime? What an idiot. I guess he doesn't understand or care that the country does care that we are in a recession, the job market is weakening and inflation is high.

Regarding the part in bold, that was my first thought.

Great decision that he made once again.

Any state attorney who refuses to enforce the law should be suspended.

"Soros backed" ???  That's just pandering to say he's "Soros backed."  He didn't suspend him because he was "Soros backed."  At least, I hope not.
DeSantis 2024!
Some Dems were hoping this Warren guy would be a candidate for statewide office in 24 or 26. This move by DeSantis certainly increases his name recognition. But it also ties Democrats more and more to unpopular positions on abortion and transgenderism. At least, unpopular for now. We will have to see which position is more popular 4 years from now.
