Wisconsin judge threatens courtroom boycott over Hannah Dugan arrest

A Wisconsin judge is threatening not to hold court in protest of federal authorities arresting her fellow judge Hannah Dugan last week.

Judge Monica Isham made the announcement in an email to judges across the state on Saturday. Her email, titled "Guidance Requested or I Refuse to Hold Court," made clear she had no intention of working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

"If there is no guidance for us and no support for us, I will refuse to hold court in Branch 2 in Sawyer County. I will not put myself or my staff who may feel compelled to help me or my community in harms way," Isham wrote.

"I have no intention of allowing anyone to be taken out of my courtroom by ICE and sent to a concentration camp, especially without due process, as BOTH of the constitutions we swore to support require. Should I start raising bail money?" Isham wrote, referring to the Wisconsin state constitution as well...

More than 100 immigrants detained at an illegal after-hours nightclub in Colorado

“We are not going to accept drug trafficking and prostitution in our cities”: DEA RMFD on underground nightclub bust in Colorado Springs

In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 27, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Rocky Mountain Field Division (DEA RMFD) led an operation at an illegal underground nightclub in Colorado Springs where drug trafficking and prostitution were identified through a months-long investigation.

With the help of 300 law enforcement personnel representing 10 other federal agencies and local partners, including the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO), the DEA RMFD led the operation, which began around 3:45 a.m. on Sunday near South Academy Boulevard and Airport Road.

“This is an underground, illegal nightclub and what was happening inside was significant drug trafficking, prostitution, crimes of violence, [and] we seized a number of guns in there,” said DEA RMFD Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Pullen...

What these judges are doing is literally against the law. I read an article a couple of days ago that quoted the statute they are in violation of but I can't find it again. I'm sure a search will yield the results anyone may want to know about.

This is getting out of hand and needs to be shut down quickly. Yes, immigrants have some protections under the 5th and 14th amendments but that doesn't excuse the judges who violate statutes. The very last thing this country needs is lawlessness from judges and law enforcement more than has already happened. This is next level compared to what we've seen so far.
Believe it or not HB, we have a big problem with human trafficking and drugs here in Moore county. Recently there were raids on several vaping stores that led to arrests of owners for all kinds of drugs and paraphernalia as well as arrests of folks at traffic stops and home raids.

The human trafficking arrests aren't made or announced as publicly due to the nature of the crimes, keeping victims (especially minors) and undercover cops protected.

Home of the USGA and Pinehurst No. 2 and a coveted place for northerners to retire. If people only knew the real MoCo....
Democrats really don't care about the safety and security of Americans......

These are the lawmakers ( Democrats ) that have used tax payers money to go try to see MS13 gang member in El Salvador.

It doesn't surprise me. This kind of thing has been happening at a low level for decades. Only in the last four years when Meat Puppet's handlers allowed the drugs and gang members to flow north nearly unimpeded has it reached a saturation point. Colorado isn't helping itself by being stupid with its sanctuary laws. They're idiots who deserve what they vote for. Unfortunately, they're creating more human trafficking and fentanyl OD victims.
I was reading this story and a detail jumped out. The ethnicities of all women mentioned in the article are capitalized except for white women. How is this not considered racial discrimination?

If they used the word Caucasian it would likely be capitalized. My autocorrect corrected it from lower case c to capital C when I typed it in here.

Judges always parse their words and make things seem complicated.
But these are simple principles.

Not really directed at Americus, anyone can answer.  Tell me if any of these principles are incorrect:

1) Someone who has not been convicted of anything should not be in prison. Not in one of our prisons, not in anyone else's prison. Immigrant or not.

2) An illegal immigrant should be deported, but if they are not criminals, they should be deported to a *safe* place in another country that will take them.  They should not be deported to a place that will imprison them without trial or hope for a trial.

3) Just because a government official calls you a gangster or a criminal, does not mean you are a gangster or a criminal. Legally speaking we can't imprison you for that until a jury says so.

4) A state judge swears to uphold the state constitution as well as the federal constitution. Federal courts can overrule them on federal matters, but they still have an obligation to do their best to apply the principles of the federal Constitution, even though they are state judges.

Again, which of these is incorrect?

1.  First of all, what's your definition of "in prison"?  It is completely appropriate to hold individuals in custody pending trial if they are considered a danger to the community and/or a flight risk. Incarceration and the application of foreign law in other countries outside of the U.S. however, much we may in some cases disagree with it, is not within our power to control.

2. Deportation to the country from which they came is typically appropriate.  We're not talking about people who managed to get past the Berlin Wall and are seeking political asylum.  If they have a violent criminal history in their own country, that's not our problem.

3.  Legally, in some instances, yes, we can.

4.  These judges are pushing their own beliefs and posturing for strictly political purposes, not objectively upholding the Constitution.

1. "Jail" is the place they hold you before and during your trial.  "Prison" is where you go if you are convicted.  I agree that we can't stop places like North Korea or El Salvador from imprisoning folks without trial, but we can stop sending them more folks to imprison.

2. If the country you came from is going to imprison you without trial whenever you go back, that's a textbook political asylum claim. I mean you would know this intuitively if it was East Germany or North Korea, why does your brain short circuit when it's El Salvador?

3. Yes, an accused person can be held *pending trial*. Are these folks in El Salvador getting trials?

4. Sounds like you agree with the principle, you just think that's not what these two state judges are doing.  You say their stance isn't based on the US Constitution.  How do you figure? Aren't we discussing the right to a trial? Isn't that the 5th and 14th amendments?

See? You believe this stuff because you're stupid. So yes, all four of those were incorrect. ICE doesn't just take a report and go knock down a door, that you believe this simply shows that you're either literally [BLEEP] or just being obstinate. I know that it's likely both, but I want to believe the best about you.

I'm not saying ICE literally sent someone to Salvadoran prison based on a single report. I'm saying they might have.  And you can't prove me wrong, because there was no trial! If there is no trial, you don't know if you've rounded up the wrong person. If there's no trial, any of us could be next.

House Democrat announces articles of impeachment against Trump: 'Clear and present danger'
Rep. Shri Thanedar claimed that 'Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unfit to serve as President'

Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich., announced on Monday that he introduced seven articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

"Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unfit to serve as President and represents a clear and present danger to our nation’s constitution and our democracy," Thanedar said in a news release.

The articles allege wrongdoing by Trump including "Obstruction of Justice and Abuse of Executive Power," "Usurpation of Appropriations Power," "Abuse of Trade Powers and International Aggression," "Violation of First Amendment Rights," "Creation of an Unlawful Office," "Bribery and Corruption," and "Tyrannical Overreach"

ICE doesn't just take a report and go knock down a door, that you believe this simply shows that you're either literally [BLEEP] or just being obstinate. I know that it's likely both, but I want to believe the best about you.

You're usually so good with sarcasm and irony.
I'm not saying ICE literally sent someone to Salvadoran prison based on a single report. I'm saying they might have.  And you can't prove me wrong, because there was no trial! If there is no trial, you don't know if you've rounded up the wrong person. If there's no trial, any of us could be next.

Lol, that's because other folks are actually good at it. And you don't know what documentation they do or don't have, you're just assuming that you're right because it makes for a good laugh.
