Thought about making a new thread for the Republican debate tonight, but I figured I'd just add it here. This debate is a disaster. I can't stand Republican platitudes. No one will be able to convince me that Tim Scott, Mike Pence, and Chris Christie are there for any other reason than to tank Trump and Vivek.
They're always a disaster and this one is just more of the same.  Candidates talking over each other, moderators with no control and my favorite, different questions for different candidates.

It's fine if you like Trump or Vivek, but why do you doubt the sincerity and ambition of the others so strongly? They're all lying about some stuff, and they're all being sincere about some stuff.
What a [BLEEP] show. If the bookends don't get to speak then get them off the stage.
Fox is terrible.
The only thing these garbage GOP candidates who have 0% chance of winning besides maybe DeSantis have to offer is the same [BLEEP] they said before Trump came in pre 2016. "Lower taxes, lower gas prices, federalism, shrink the government"... garbage.

It's not enough.
Close the border with the entire ability of the military. Build the wall, defend it and repel all these immigrants coming into our country. Give us a Public health option.

The only thing taxes should pay for is:
Border security
Military
Health care
More power for each state
We're getting Reaganomic regurgitation garbage

We need factories and a skilled labor work force, high tariffs on all the goods sold here from China. 85% of our economy is service based.

China and Russia are industrial based economies.

I like what Vivek said about the border and sex reassignment surgery though.

Militarize the border, ban sex reassignment and "gender affirming care".

You know they don't want him to win because everytime someone gets to talk past their time limit they gang up on him and talk over him but when he tries to do the same the hosts shut him down.

His biggest problem is that he lets Nikki Haley call him dumb and then essentially says "let's not call each other names".

Trump would have grabbed her by the [BLEEP] up there by now.

It's so boring without Trump.

Because Christie can't answer a question without dogging Trump. Scott has gotten better throughout the debate, but every chance he got, he was cutting off Vivek. Pence has an axe to grind, but maybe he's sincere. I can't stand that dude, though. He's phony. No, I can't prove it (before you ask).

Yeah, I am on the fence with Vivek. He says the right things, but my gut says not to trust him. The governor from North Dakota grew on me a bit tonight. I'd like to hear more from him. Haley is a neo-con, establishment politician. I like her ok, all things considered, but those people aren't going to do anything for we the people. They will just get laws passed that corporations can exploit. Chris Christie is literally there just to [BLEEP] on Trump.

I'm to the point where I want to just see Haley, DeSantis, Ramaswamy, and Burgum. Everyone needs to get the same question. If they have candidate questions, they need to do that in one or two rounds.

Give us a 1 hour long form interview with each of those privately so we can hear their answers then put them on stage again to debate with no audience and a single moderator. I'm ok with argument, but you can have that many people involved in one.
I watched about the first 10 minutes and then changed the channel when it became obvious control had been lost. Doug Burgum is a genuine guy but I don’t think he’s equipped to be president. He would be a great cabinet member, though.

DeSantis sounded like he was whining sometimes.

Vivek, no.

Chris Christie is not a bad candidate but he needs a wider platform than just bashing Trump.

Tim Scott is a good guy but I don’t see him as decisive. I consider him more as a consensus builder than an executive.

I still like Nikki Haley. She seems the most presidential of the whole group.
It’s a sad sign of the times when a rule has to be established to force a grown man to dress as a grown man.

What were you thinking, Pennsylvania?

I agree with this.  Nikki looked and acted like a President.  She was the only one.

Hey, I'm happy nowadays when a man just dresses like a man, grown or not.

Shutdowns are just a step above mythology anyways.
The idea that some spending is automatic and other spending has to be renewed every year is arbitrary.

Is he saying the constitution forbids the United States from giving out foreign aid?

That's pretty obvious bovine excrement.

But that one is pretty funny.

This is much better commentary than he realizes.
Per the Constitution, he's in a position to actually do something about the value of the dollar, but that power was ceded to the President and bankers a century ago. So instead he chooses to make jokes about it like a common entertainer.  Helpless just like the rest of us.
California Governor Newsom just signed a bill that will increase the State minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hour.  Minimum wage for all other workers is $15.50/hour.  I'm not sure why working at a McDonald's should automatically pay more than at a Walmart.  Sounds like the price of fries is going up!

New California law raises minimum wage for fast food workers to $20 per hour, among nation's highest (msn.com)
