Yes, military units move equipment for field exercises. This is a nut job Twitter feed.

There were a ton of reports popping up all over the country in the past few days. Most of the reports though were just videos that can't be dated or placed. The National Guard does do training in the summer.

For now, it's just people posting videos because they saw it somewhere else. Then it most likely is just normal training. Wait until you see one of the bases go on alert or see tanks in the streets.

I saw an interesting juxtaposition today in the MSM. Two different reviews of the movie Elemental. The Atlantic says it may be the worst Pixar film since Planes, saying that the motives behind each part of the plot make no sense and lack any emotional connection. But CNN's reviewer says this movie hit him like no other Pixar movie, in a good way.

Both reviewers noticed that the "fire people" are supposed to be a stand in for a "model immigrant" community in the US. The Atlantic writer said, "but I don't know what they are, vaguely Jewish maybe?" while the CNN writer insisted they were definitely Asian and that's why the story connected with him, as an Asian.

People see what they want to see, what they're conditioned to see or what they can relate to. It depends on what they want to get out of whatever they're watching, reading or listening to.

I haven't seen the movie, and the Atlantic article came out first,  but I got the impression that if the CNN reviewer hadn't connected "fire people = my parents", they wouldn't have enjoyed the movie.  All they wanted to talk about was the Asian thing.

I remember I read a lot of stuff about Everything, Everywhere, All at Once, before and after I saw it.  A lot of that stuff barely mentioned that the main characters were Asian immigrants.  They mentioned how it defied categorization and expectations and was really fun, and then maybe they mentioned the creators were Asian.

Representation of minorities is a good thing.   But it's no good by itself. If it's the main good thing you can say about a new movie, it's probably not a good movie.
