Brazil going off today. Could end up with 2 sides claiming the presidency. Will have to see what military does.

Brazil's situation today is very different from our situation 2 years ago.
Silva is in power but he's out of town, and their Congress is not in session. The protestors are not threatening the elected officials, not yet anyhow.

I’m not ancient yet.  But, I’m getting some years on me.  But I’ve learned a few things in life.  One of which… Many people will try to be big a bad [BLEEP] on a message board.  Many will try to be big and bad [BLEEP] and try to fight.  Many will try to be big and bad [BLEEP] with a gun.  9/10 times the good guy wins.  Playing by the rules vs being a dip [BLEEP] usually goes to the good guys.  I’ve always thought it was funny when “tough” guys will say: “I’ll beat your [BLEEP]”. Must suck going through life with only one or two things in your favor and trying to fall back on that [BLEEP].

Unfortunately, I think the shooter may be facing some problems. Firstly, he shot him in the back which indicates the robber was possibly on his way out the door. Secondly, the shooter shot him 9 times, including walking up and shooting after the guy was motionless, and even went so far as to deliver a coup de grace after bending over the robber and looking at him. I have no sympathy for the robber, but from a legal standpoint, it appeared he was executed.

My video stopped after the patron pulled his gun.  Where is the rest of the story?  I’m not questioning you by any means.  Just going off that short video which didn’t show the shooting, obviously.

Yup, I agree. That was an execution.. Definitely don't feel bad for the crook though.
Shooter is going to prison. Zero justification for that many shots. Especially not what appeared to be a head shot for the last one when dude was down.
Too many shots in this case.

However, it is unfortunate that people now have to defend themselves 'correctly' when being subjected to a potential life-ending assault..

Low risk / high reward seems to be the way it is now for criminals and criminal activity.

Taking the guy's gun then shooting him in the head is a bridge too far.

He better be a damned good one.
This is going to start happening a lot more if they don't start prosecuting these thug criminals.

Been seeing way too many videos of thugs just walking into businesses and casually taking what they want off the shelves and freely leaving without repercussions..

It's also turning law abiding citizens into vigilanties, which isn't good either.
I don't get it. Once you've determined that the threat requires deadly force, I think unloading a clip is perfectly acceptable. I didn't watch the longer video, but it takes no time at all to unload a clip. You're taught 2 in the chest, one in the head under perfect circumstances... with adrenaline and a real-life threat, 9 rounds probably feels a lot like 2.

He shot him 4 times in the back while sitting down, then got up and shot him 4 more times while he was face down on the ground, then walked up to him, picked up his gun, looked down and shot him once in the head. It's excessive.

With a continuing, advancing threat I will agree with you. You have to watch the whole video though. This guy was excessive by any definition of the word. Then the dude apparently just leaves the scene.
Fair enough. I typically avoid watching stuff like that unless I have to. Don't care to do the research to argue this further. I'll concede my point and let the courts figure it out.

I just watched the full video and I agree.  The first four shouldn't be a problem, because he was in reasonable fear of serious bodily injury.  The next four were not justified because the threat had been neutralized and the ninth was a deliberate kill shot (though the robber was probably already dead at that point).
