The red flags were flying high..

I never got an answer to this.

The little mermaid was originally written by Danish author Hans Cristian Anderson in the early 1800’s. There is not a lot of diversity now in Denmark, and I’m thinking it was probably even less back in Hans time. So it’s not going very far out on a limb to say she was written as a white character and has been historically white in books and film for nearly 200 years. It’s not that she “has” to be white, it’s just that she is white. Instead of making a black and white version of classic movies, why not make the effort to create a new movie with its own story line?

A choice between two psychopath dictators that are armed to the teeth.
Sounds like Khartoum.
Be glad you don't live in Russia.  Pray for them.  And the Sudanese, too.

The Wagner Group has taken over the main military headquarters in the Russian city of Rostov, without any resistance by the regular Russian army.  Putin has ordered the Russian regular army to put down the rebellion, calling it treason.

Russia’s Putin Orders Military to Crush Wagner Power Grab - WSJ

Wagner troops, led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, earlier in the day took over the main military headquarters for southern Russia, in Rostov, and other installations there, encountering virtually no resistance from the regular armed forces. Wagner also sent columns of troops northward toward Moscow.

Putin Admits He’s Facing ‘Armed Mutiny’ as Prigozhin Advances on Moscow (thedailybeast.com)

Vladimir Putin made an extraordinary address to the nation on Saturday morning admitting that he was facing an “armed mutiny” led by former confidante Yevgeny Prigozhin and his Wagner mercenaries.

In a five-minute speech that was pre-recorded and then broadcast to a disbelieving nation, the president conceded that the insurrection meant his regime was up against “the toughest battle for its future.”
Before the speech played out, Wagner mercenaries were seen descending with no resistance on Rostov-on-Don, Russia’s southern military HQ, which has been co-ordinating the invasion of Ukraine.

This must come as a relief for Ukraine.

I think that's the biggest thing.  Prigozhin will probably be crushed. But he has pulled some of the most effective pro-Russian troops out of Ukraine.

And I wonder what the Russian people will think when they hear one of Putin's formerly staunchest supporters say the war in Ukraine was based on a lie.

I wonder too. This could possibly foment a coup against Putin, but Russians are notoriously paranoid. They see deception and intrigue around every corner. I would be shocked if Putin didn’t come up with a story saying Prigozhin was bought off by the Americans, or some such Machiavellian stunt, to keep public opinion on his side.

This will be Putin’s biggest test. Let’s see if the corrupt old KGB agent has any tricks left up his sleeve.

Edit: Putin may have reason to be paranoid. I just saw an interview with KT McFarland and she postulated the U.S. government could very well indeed be influencing these events.

The plot thickens.
Moscow is within 3 more days advance. This thing might have real legs and Putin on the way out. Replaced by actual Nazis and such scum, but on the way out.

Regardless of the outcome, this very likely signals a change in Russia's efforts in Ukraine.
I saw a guy on another forum say, "If Biden takes credit for taking down Putin, he will sail to victory in 2024". Then someone replied, "Just like Bush sailed to victory in 1992."

You don't want that to happen, right? If only there was something you could do about it.
