Joe Manchin just announced on Fox News Sunday that he will definitely be voting NO on the infrastructure bill openly masquerading as a social spending plan known as Build Back Better.

Thank God.
Will he do the same with the "voting reform" that's become priority number 1 for dems? That's the worst thing that can happen, outside of packing the courts.

That one can't be done by reconciliation so for that one all he has to say is "I respect the Filibuster."

Don't get your hopes up yet, Mich will find a few RINOs to vote for it while saying he was fighting against it.

He seems pretty fit to be tied.

I couldn't imagine negotiating with Biden.

Biden: Thanks for stopping by for a talk, Bill
Manchin: Joe
Biden: Yes?
Manchin: My name is Joe, just like you.
Biden: Your name is Brandon, too?
The leftist knee jerk movement is coming home to roost. The democrats are going to feel it in November.

Vermont city deteriorates after defunding police, critics fear 'racist' label for speaking out | Fox News

A Vermont city is paying the price of slashing its police force by nearly 30% amid the defund the police movement that spread across the country in 2020.

"We’re in a situation that I think nobody wanted us to get to," Burlington Councilor Zoraya Hightower, who introduced defunding the police force last year, told NBC News.

Burlington, a majority White college town near the Canadian border, slashed its police force by almost 30% by attrition. Hightower’s resolution last year was partially written by an activist group called the Vermont Racial Justice Alliance and included suggestions such as decreasing the number of officers from 105 to 74.

It also ended the school resource officer program and called for the money from that program to be directed to racial justice initiatives, NBC News reported. The resolution also called for the creation of a committee that would review "how to build a healthy and safe community and what institutions we need to reach that goal."

What soon followed was police officers leaving en masse, quality-of-life issues and problems with public safety. And consequently, virtually "no one" happy, the outlet reported.

"If you speak out against defunding the police force, you’re labeled a racist," business owner Mark Bouchett said. "Or at least an idiot that doesn’t understand the problem."

He added that he became concerned with the state of the city after female employees were afraid to walk to their cars at night following the resolution passing.

Some councilors reportedly assumed that slashing the force by attrition would unfold over years, but instead, cops left the force quickly. Burlington averaged about 95 active-duty officers before defunding, and now has only about 64, the outlet reported. Only five officers are able to patrol at night most of the time, according to acting Police Chief Jon Murad...
San Francisco is in the same boat and their mayor has publicly said so. I wonder how hard it is for these folks to swallow the truth.
This alone should make people think about who they vote for in the next local election. Knee jerk reactions never work. They sound good but they're not a long-term solution.

She introduced her resolution to slash the force one month after Floyd died, and it was approved on June 30.

"We made this decision with no public process," Democratic Councilor Joan Shannon said. "Nothing was sent to committee for discussion. No effort was made to reach out to groups beyond the activists."

They got re-elected and have private security.  They don't have to swallow [BLEEP].

No, they just look like fools and their electors are starting to realize their best interests are not being looked after. An article I read a few weeks ago had quotes from interviews of folks who said they were for police reform but their elected leaders saying the people don't need police while simultaneously hiring private security for themselves is crooked. Sadly those people will still vote as they always have and will get the same response from their leaders and wonder why.

Exactly, which is basically why I'm saying it doesn't matter and they don't give a damn.
I feel bad for the law abiding citizens there who most likely didn't support it but were outvoted by idiots. Hopefully the next voting cycle expels those representatives from public office.
Either of two things will happen in these places: the locals wake up and vote more sensible people in, or the populations of Texas, Tennessee and Florida continue to rise. The second scenario worries me but I am somewhat relieved to hear that even though Florida is gaining more of those fleeing democrat hell holes, registered Republican rolls here are rising. So maybe some did learn a lesson.

It's residual "Bernie" effect.  The city has been steadily moving left since the day he took office.

Apparently, they didn't sell enough "BLMmmmmm, Mm!"

Rather than debate a losing cause in the arena of ideals, they wrap everything in a cloak of race. Who cares that this hare-brained idea did not go to committee or even discussion, nor would it survive. If you disagree with the resolution, it's not because of its lack of integrity, it's simply because you're racist. Thus, we now have a bevy of liberal cities run by unqualified label mayors (and the U.S. Vice Presidency) with spiraling crime rates and rudderless leadership. Their ideas are bad only because those who disagree are racist.
