Pretty much why I've come around on the abortion issue. Why should I stand between someone ending the blood line of mental illness?

Give them enough rope and they hang themselves. We used to happily die to protect our country from foreign invaders, now a lot of us feel like we'll have to die protecting our families from this government and country.

The fault lies with indoctrination in our schools and piss poor parenting.

I think it's more on the parenting side than the mental illness side. Kids have been raised by helicopter parents who tell them they can be anything they want, they're not held responsible for bad behavior so they don't get that actions have consequences, and they're indoctrinated in public schools from kindergarten.

That's not mental illness, that's learned behavior.

There are far fewer with actual mental illness but parents have been and continue to be pushed to put their kids on drugs that are known to affect hormones as well as brain chemistry. An excellent thing to do for the development of their normal child. That's not to say there aren't kids with true mental illness because there are and they should be treated for it.

Whoever started the idea of drugging kids without a true mental illness to make them 'behave normally' should be drawn and quartered in the town square.

Some of us would pay good money to see that..

DeSantis's super PAC is collapsing and Ramaswamy has stopped all ads in Iowa. It looks like the field is being trimmed down to badorangeman, Chris Christie and Nikki Haley.
Ask yourself how Chris Christie is still in this race.

When you start to become chapters in the history books..

"A recent Russian history textbook for 11th graders alleges that former U.S. President Donald Trump's defeat in the 2020 presidential election was due to "clear electoral fraud committed by the Democratic Party."

This claim from the textbook has gained attention on social media, with images of the book circulating widely.

Marc Bennetts, a foreign correspondent for The Times (U.K.), shared a translated excerpt from the book on his X (previously known as Twitter) account, highlighting the text's assertion that Trump's loss was the result of "obvious electoral fraud by the Democratic Party."

Welp... that can't help anybody in the US.
What is going on with John Fetterman?

Is John Fetterman changing or were progressives mistaken about him? Yes.

Fetterman isn’t just distancing himself from progressives. He’s antagonizing them.

https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opin...rcna130342

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., has been making enemies on the left in recent months. After Israel retaliated against Hamas after its Oct. 7 attacks, he staked out a position as a staunch pro-Israel partisan and taunted pro-Palestinian activists pushing for a cease-fire. More recently, he angered progressive activists with his willingness to compromise with the GOP on restrictive immigration policies. Then on Friday, in what was a bombshell declaration, he told NBC News, “I’m not a progressive.” ...
It Is Not an Accident

As one watches Harvard University abandon any semblance of commitment to academic standards in defense of its accused serial-plagiarist president Claudine Gay, the curious mind might wonder how an institution that is closing in on its 400th year could be taken over by such mediocrity. Indeed, turn aside from the plagiarism complaint altogether to consider her work on its merits, and it becomes immediately clear that President Gay’s “scholarly” work is profoundly inconsequential. It is one thing to plagiarize a great idea, yet another thing altogether and perhaps even more damning to do so to a minor contribution with little lasting value.

Institutions like Harvard have an outsize role in society, and their decline is acutely related to their willingness to tolerate mediocrity that has fashionable views, regardless of race. Speaking to the Mont Pelerin Society in 1975, Bill Buckley noted presciently:

It is especially significant for our problem that every scholar can probably name several instances from his field of men who have undeservedly achieved a popular reputation as great scientists solely because they hold what the intellectuals regard as “progressive” political views; but I have yet to come across a single instance where such a scientific pseudo-reputation has been bestowed for political reasons on a scholar of more conservative leanings...

He’s going all in New Hampshire. Plus maybe he will get on the next debate stage and keep things interesting

It's been coming for a while, I'm shocked it's taken this long. AI is a killer for a lot of busy work jobs.

A.I. will definitely be a problem going forward for a lot of sectors. As much as we kvetch about the stupidity of Hollywood I admire the balls the actors and writers had to go on strike and tell the studios they can't be replaced by A.I. That's the gist of it anyway. They fought to keep their jobs and they won.

Thankfully my husband is in an industry where people are absolutely required to run and monitor things so there isn't raw sewage in the streets. It's also why he never missed time in 2020 when nearly everything else was shut down.

He's been doing it a long time and gets cranky about having to keep schlepping at a job he's grown weary of and some of the 'job politics' that affect the guys. I remind him that job pays very well for this state and our area and it's kept us from a lot of the problems so many had when the country shut down.

Hopefully nobody here will be affected by this turn of events.
