Good. I hope it stays on her shoes.

Glad he is saying that. Picking another Pence would be terrible. He needs to remove all of them and not allow anyone that comes crawling back on the team. They can support from outside the administration but no trader, RINOs in the administration.

I'm pretty sure this was all started by The DeSantis Camp..

Is John Fetterman changing or were progressives mistaken about him? Yes.

Fetterman isn’t just distancing himself from progressives. He’s antagonizing them.

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., has been making enemies on the left in recent months. After Israel retaliated against Hamas after its Oct. 7 attacks, he staked out a position as a staunch pro-Israel partisan and taunted pro-Palestinian activists pushing for a cease-fire. More recently, he angered progressive activists with his willingness to compromise with the GOP on restrictive immigration policies. Then on Friday, in what was a bombshell declaration, he told NBC News, “I’m not a progressive.” ...
His stay in the mental hospital has cured his mental illness. If this isn't a case study that proves liberals are crazy, I don't know what would prove it.

Or the replacement is going off script.

I don't think it will hurt her with the people she's trying to win over.

And honestly, I think we can all agree, if we counted the gaffes, Trump and Biden would be setting records.

It was such a stupid, unforced error. Perhaps she's trying to thread a needle by not getting into a racial discussion, but this only makes it worse because it's sidestepping a glaring historical fact. You can rest assured this will bring other pointed questions her way.

I think she could play it to her advantage.

1.  Gain attention.
2.  Go to war with the media when they press her on it.
3.  Make the Neo-Confederates in the right wing of the Republican party think she's one of them.

I guarantee you, her advisors are planning how to spin this to her advantage.

1. She’s gaining the wrong attention.
2. The media is already at war with her because of her political affiliation. This only gives them another talking point.
3. What the hell is a Neo-Confederate?

Her advisors will be doing what any good advisors and staff will do. That’s why they’re paid.

I don't want to start another argument about Trump, but this is how he gets attention- do something, do anything, to get the media to talk about you.  She could make the same play.  You don't think Trump gets "the wrong attention?"  But somehow, he plays it to his advantage.  She could play it as, "The global woke elites are trying to bring me down with their gotcha questions that have NOTHING TO DO WITH THE INVASION AT THE SOUTHERN BORDER OR THE WEAKNESS AND CORRUPTION OF THIS ADMINISTRATION!!!"  Republicans these days love nothing more than a good anti-woke, anti-media RANT.  I'm saying she should use this to get the cameras on her and get the media to attack her.  And then attack the media.  She'd be like Trump, only with a much higher IQ.

You say the media is already at war with her, but really, it's not enough.  She should want them to be MORE at war with her.  To Republicans, going to war with the media is like going to war with Al Qaeda.  The more they attack her, the better for her.

What I SAY "neo-confederate" I'm talking about the large portion of southern Republicans who like to deny that the Civil War was about slavery.  We've had these discussions on this very message board, with people trying to say things like "slavery would have gone away on its own, the Civil War was fought over the principle of states' rights, and not slavery, etc etc etc."  She's a Republican from South Carolina, and she gave an answer that would play well with a large portion of the Republican base.  Especially southern Republicans.

And now she has clarified her remarks and said that of course slavery was the cause of the Civil War, so I guess this little dustup is all over.

She's not wired for that kind of tumult and it's just not her style. Trump thrives on it.

Edit: I posted right after you. This is not over. It will be brought up repeatedly.

Now it's being reported that Maine has disqualified Trump from the presidential ballot.
