I’d say it’s all true.  When you look at rental prices these days and the fact that rental companies own whole neighbourhoods now, I don’t know how your average middle class kids are supposed to save enough for a down payment on a house.  Throw in the cost of basic necessities and I don’t know this younger generation is making it.  The American dream if not dead is on life support.

The tin foil hat wearers have been right a lot lately.

Something needs to be done about that. It’s creating hardship and concentrating wealth.

We have done something in Florida.  The homestead exemption which discounts both the assessment and the rate of growth of the assessment. Benefits homeowners only, never corporations, never landlords.
The right way to improve upon that is to increase the property tax rate for everyone, but then increase the homestead exemption and lower the sales tax such that most residents are paying about the same, while the large real estate holding corporations pay significantly more.
The wrong way to improve upon that is banning corporations from owning homes.  Another wrong path is rent control.
But right now in FL I don't think we have the political appetite to do any of those.  The good news is we build faster than most states so the problem isn't as bad here.

It's not just corporations gouging for rent. Individual investors have no choice as well. Quadrupling insurance premiums and rising property taxes have to be paid by someone,  and that is typically the tenant, and rightfully so. I don't believe the American dream is on life's support as much as people not willing to live within their means. There are lots of deals out there.

You can't homestead investment properties. What would increasing a homestead exemption you can't apply do?
As a reminder, Alex Jones was fined over a billion dollars for saying words while Boeing actually killed hundreds of people for only $234 million. If you step out of line you will be crushed by the Establishment.
I can't wait for a certain someone to miss your point.

You're so close to getting it! Think a little harder!

I have a professional engineering license.  The government has determined that I know enough to design a building or roadway without getting people hurt.

There is no license for building airplanes.  There should be.

Multiple Boeing executives, engineers, and marketing people should have been sent to jail. Even more should have lifetime bans from working in aviation.  The reaction should have been more like the KC Hyatt disaster.  Instead they got off easier than Enron.  It's a scandal which shows how key industries have more or less captured the parts of government they were supposed to serve.

And Alex Jones wasn't punished for being conservative.  He was punished for lying.  Big difference.
Lol.

An idiot "engineer" like you is the reason Ford put the oil filter on a F-150 3.5L ecoboost engine in such a stupid location.

As someone retired from a career in aviation, you have no idea what you are talking about.

As flsportsgod said, Alex Jones was punished for something that he said.

1) the guys who design cars don't have licenses either. The guys who botched the Pinto or the Corvair or the 3.5L Ecoboost mostly got to keep their jobs.

2) airplanes are weird.  Everyone who works on one part of them ends up thinking they worked on the whole thing. Everyone who flies a Cessna thinks they know B-52s. If you think I said something wrong about airplanes, point it out. Earn your right to insult me or shut the [BLEEP] up dude.

3) yes he was punished for something he said.  Many things he said.  They were all lies. The first amendment has never ever not even for a minute covered anyone's ability to lie about things in ways that hurt others.  You are only protected from the the government punishing your speech if your speech is true or if you can plausibly and intelligently claim you thought it was true.  Otherwise you're the boy who cried wolf and the government may punish you.  Maybe your career in aviation didn't teach you that little tidbit of constitutional law.

To be fair, we don’t know what else was in this bill. They’re typically full of pork but labeled to promote one goal. Such as the so-called Infrastructure bill. Besides, noncitizens are already prevented by law from voting in federal elections.

I don't think this one is a long bill, so should be easy to check.

Non-citizens are not allowed to vote in federal elections but they sure are being registered and not told they can't vote. How do states know who should be given a full ballot vs a state only vs federal only? They don't because they refuse to ask and/or store the status.

What happens is the person votes occasionally without knowing they couldn't. Green card holders are having these issues and trying to make sure they get removed but finding it difficult. They are worried it will affect them if it shows they voted.

I would think most will not vote unless the mail-in ballots make it look like they have to or some rumors spread that they have to to continue getting benefits. Democrats want the registration entries so they can vote for them and generate the ballots.

Only a few counties in the whole US have opened local elections to non citizens. No state legislature is elected this way.  And these counties are entirely in solid blue states anyhow.
