Look at the emergency climate change that is coming, I don't know how the nation survives this. The economy will crash even further than its  heading.

By definition, the US could never be a third world country.

Ford Laying Off 8000 Workers to Fund EV Efforts

Ford Laying Off 8000 Workers to Fund EV Efforts

Why?  Ford are 10th in EVs, but 10th is only good for 27,000 units of EV shipped in 2021. 9th on the list shipped 160,000 units of EV, so Ford are a loooooong way back.
Bigger question: is the current electric grid ready for significant increase in demand due to EV charging? We just retired a 1200 MW coal plant here in Jax not long ago because demand was too low to financially justify it being online. It's harder to add generating capacity than it is to mass produce EV's. Many states (Calif) are already riding the bleeding edge of brownout/blackout conditions on the regular. Other states/power systems may face the same issue. This doesn't bode well for them.
Took his pic while riding out of DC today.......

It seems like an awfully big bite for a technology that is severely limited to what most consumers want. It's understandable they want to be towards the front in EV technology but it's still very much a niche market and will remain so until the infrastructure is built out to support it and battery life span and replaceability costs are greatly reduced. As it stands now, electric cars are throw-away items when the batteries are spent. While Ford can work on the battery question, infrastructure is a government task.

Something else that should be taken into account is one of the reasons Tesla leads the market is because of their unhindered supply chain. They design and manufacture their own parts and software. An article I read somewhere stated that big car company engineers and bean counters said they would not be able to accomplish and sustain what Tesla has built simply because they are not able to compete with Tesla's organizational nimbleness.

I hope Ford achieves what they want but laying off 8000 people to pursue product development for something that people will want even less if a recession hits seems like a risky play.

From what I have seen, gasoline prices have come down quite a bit.  Regular is below $4.00 in Jacksonville.  A couple of days ago, I stopped at a gas station in Georgia and I got supreme at just over $4.00 a gallon.

In fact, if you look up the price of gas on gasbuddy.com, in DC, regular is as low as $4.15 a gallon.

In fact, here's the price of gas in DC:

That pic was taken at about 12:20PM on 7/22/2022. I was in my Limo Service on my way back home and we were at a red light. I looked at the full pic (this one was edited for size and clarity) and the cross streets sign were not in the pic so...... Now, you can believe what one web site says about gas prices in DC, all I know is what I saw, and snapped a pic of on Friday.......

I was driving through Georgia the other day and I got Supreme at close to four dollars a gallon.

Gasbuddy.com is completely accurate.  If they say the price of gas at a particular gas station in DC is a certain price, then that's what it is.

I don't doubt that you took that picture, but that's not the price of gas in DC.

That was the price at that particular station...... Do you want to see my documents to prove I was in DC? if so, I'll gladly provide them........

Nothing like patting a guy on the back for raising the price $2.00 then dropping it $.50

While also emptying our strategic reserves while a potential continental land war is underway.
Good Question.... Great answer!

The dude was out the next day. He was charged, but they released him with no bail. Gotta love that progressive justice system. I'm sure the same thing would be true if he did it to AOC.

He’s back in jail. The feds charged him.
