I've actually been directly affected more times by hurricanes since moving to my area in NC than I ever was while living in Jacksonville. The heat though...it gets as hot and humid here for periods of time but not for nearly as long. Thank God. Y'all can keep that foolishness.

The UK is so much worse off than we are in terms of housing.
They have a much worse shortage of homes, and the council tax is typically much higher than our property tax. The council tax is arbitrarily assigned to you, you might have to pay the same amount every year as a neighbor that has ten times more property than you just because the council says so. They also charge you more if you're living there compared to if you're not, the exact opposite of our homestead system. It's amazing what they put up with.
We have a lot to be thankful for in the US, and especially in Florida. Wise taxation is part of what makes a thriving economy and healthy society.

Been saying for the past year, this is abuse of the elderly. A tactic and action that is sub human. The people responsible should be jailed.
