No.  Neither is Macon in case you are wondering.

Macon is about 10x as big as Brunswick.
Brunswick counts as a small town, to me.  Why do you say no?

Look at why they only wanted 250 numbers, look at the parameters used to filter the list down. It wasn't little Susie going to the library every day after school. The criteria was frankly way too strict and they had to go to certain locations to pickup ballots and then multiple drop boxes.

The Republicans have been in charge of Georgia for 20 years.
Rats is one of them and if you follow his history, you see he was picked to run as a republican. Kemp is a RINO also but he was at least saying there should be an investigation. Then his daughter's fiance got in an "accident" and died. It looked like a bomb or missle hit. At least 1 of the investigators was killed or committed suicide (can't remember which).

There's only 1 in Brunswick.  The other is in unincorporated Glynn County.
You're saying in small towns people look out for each other, and someone is likely to chase you down and pull a gun on you if you try to rob a liquor store. And that's good.
But we know Brunswick is a place where people are likely to chase you down if you look at a pile of construction materials too long. Even if you don't take any.
Is it that second high school that causes us to cross that threshold from "good ol boys" to openly corralling and murdering joggers in broad daylight?

I made a specific response to your grandstanding (that I don't believe is exclusive to you, but to many of the moderates), to which you said it was patently false. It's not. You choose to use the buzzwords that have no meaning other than to slander. You choose to repeat talking points without doing your own research. You choose to demagogue and demean your political opponents without caring about the whole of the truth. Imo, you don't properly challenge authority so long as you feel it's the right authority. You contribute to the very same problem you have railed against in at least 5 different threads. So, no... it's not coming out of nowhere.

I have a problem with you and moderates like you who I believe are good people and don't hate America. I don't disagree with your premise, except you are attacking the "extremes" of both sides while continuing to prop up and defend a system that is destroying our commonality. I think it's this blindness that prohibits you from properly scrutinizing how and why people are becoming divided and standards are deteriorating around this nation. It's not social media. It's not maga supporters. It's not BLM. Sure, yeah... all of those are contributors to the problem, but you're every bit the same as far as I'm concerned.

I don't care about this song. I think it's a stupid thing to argue about. I believe in free speech. The grand wizard of the KKK could write a song about how the Jews stole Christmas and I wouldn't give two [BLEEP]. If MTV wanted to play the song around the clock, I wouldn't care. I would probably not listen to it, but I mean, hey... if it had a sick beat, who knows? Hell, I WAP, WAP, WAP all the way home sometimes. I don't care about the Barbie movie. I care about who holds the levers of power that shape our collective minds, though. I think, on this front, it's easy to see who has the real power. Instead, we're talking about small towns and the artists "intent," and we say it's a conspiracy when it's pointed out that corporate America is working more and more like a government that picks and chooses what messaging is acceptable.

Basically, True the Vote and 2000 Mules alleged some serious wrongdoing in the 2000 Presidential vote in Georgia. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation decided to do their job and investigate, but True the Vote is refusing to turn over any evidence. So the GBI subpoenaed the alleged evidence, and True the Vote tried to withdraw their claims. The GBI says these are serious allegations, and we need the evidence, so we will not withdraw our subpoena.

Here they are responding to this WSJ "article". I'm sure you will claim it's misinformation because it's Bannon or not even watch it but you really should. They offered to share all of this before and did share it with the GBI but stuff was leaked and they stopped. No one wanted to touch it in MSM and the GBI and other agencies all tried to bury it or selectively leak info.

This is one of the problems with MSM and liberals who only present/view their side. They can't see when they are being lied to or just don't care because the liberal viewpoint is best regardless of the truth.

Lol. If that's how you feel, so be it. I don't feel like I'm getting beat down. I mean, if the analogy is akin to a person playing wall ball. Let me make it clear that I'm never attacking you personally. I insinuate plenty, certainly, but I do that for my own amusement. If you're feelings are getting hurt, I can certainly be more sensitve. You don't ever seem to make that distinction. Even when I intentionally don't mention you but speak to your point by addressing all moderates or liberals, you apply it to yourself.

I have a problem with moderates, which I have said repeatedly. I have stated specific problems they cause, and I have encouraged the moderates here to challenge the information they are being fed. It's a perfectly rational position, and it works whether you're being lied to or being told the truth. Morality is limited to that of the authorities. That's terrible, and if you don't want to have your world dictated by people you disagree with, you shouldn't advocate for it when your side holds power.

Now, if this thread follows the other ones where I have been "beat down," you'll ad hominem either with conspiracy or whatever it is you use to dismiss my points. That's really not a loss to me. Nothing in the curriculum says anything about "the benefits of slavery".

I put the word in quotes for a reason.

How would you describe skills learned as slaves that "could be used for personal benefit?"

Quote:Florida's 2023 Social Studies curriculum will include lessons on how "slaves developed skills" that could be used for "personal benefit," according to a copy of the state's academic standards reviewed by CBS News.

The lessons in question fall under the social studies curriculum's African-American studies section, and be taught to students in sixth through eighth grade, according to the state standards.
The lessons for that grade level will include teachings on understanding the "causes, courses and consequences of the slave trade in the colonies," and instruction on the differences and similarities between serfdom and slavery, the curriculum says. Students will also be asked to describe "the contact of European explorers with systematic slave trading in Africa" and look at the history and evolution of slave codes.
The line about "personal benefit" is included as a "benchmark clarification" to a lesson that asks students to "examine the various duties and trades performed by slaves," such as agricultural work, domestic service, blacksmithing and household tasks like tailoring and painting.
The curriculum was approved by Florida's board of education on Wednesday.

By the way, I'm unaware of the content of the VP's comments on the subject other than knowing she mentioned the new curriculum in a recent podium appearance.

I merely described them as I've seen them described in 12 different headlines. I even put the quotes around the word to avoid this semantics roundabout.
Because slaves did develop skills. They had some of the fastest growing businesses after slavery was abolished... right up until the federal minimum wage law was passed to keep well established companies in positions of power. If the goal is to whitewash history, then, sure, be mad, but I don't think that's the goal of these new standards. I think the goal is to contextualize history.

History is a story.
Certain facts distract from that story.
If you just say, "the slaves acquired skills" that makes it sound like it's a silver lining or even a positive thing.  Especially when you consider Robert E Lee's letters, reflecting a common attitude at the time, that slavery was necessary to "educate" the slaves, that this "education" was somehow genetic and generational, and they would soon be "worthy" of freedom.
Starts to make it sound like 250 years of slavery was done for the slave's benefit.
This is a false conclusion obviously, and therefore any facts that might lead one to such a conclusion must be presented in a blanket of context or not at all.

As for the federal minimum wage law, at that time, the average buyer of goods and services was racist and avoided doing business with black people unless the price was dramatically lower.  The minimum wage did have that impact (if you believe Thomas Sowell, and I do) but it was not the problem.  The racism was the problem.

Well I’ll be.  There it is right there!  Unbelievable!  Right there in the 2nd paragraph, between the third and fourth sentence.  Desantis is pro slavery.
