You are right about their pride. They are the elitist, white supremicists of South America. They see themselves as the most racially pure descendents of their Spanish ancestors. According to them, every other South American culture has been polluted by cross breeding with the indigienous people that came before them in thier respective countries. We live in a regular type neighborhood outside of town limits and have a neighbor lady, let's call her Pyro, who constantly complains about the leaves that fall from all the trees around here and blow into her yard. You'd think
every single leaf makes it to her yard by the way she goes on about it. She'll rake leaves from her yard into the yard of my next door neighbor and start burning them then just walk away. She'll rake and burn leaves in the neighbor's yard on the other side of my next door neighbor. I told her if she comes in my yard the leaves will be the least of her concern.
I told her she could invest in a chain link fence and her problem would be solved. She said if we would all cut down our trees everyone's problem would be solved. I had to tell her she's the only one who has OCD about leaves.
People are dumb. And I also would never live in an HOA neighborhood. We have a lot of them here thanks to our golf communities and rich retirees from up north. There are two of them within two miles of us. They're nice for sure but I'm not going to pay someone to tell me how long my grass can be or where I can set up my grill.

We're having an issue with a neighbor lady as well.. She has two huge half-dead Live Oaks hanging over our backyard fence (The trees themselves are pretty much considered Widow Makers). Once in a while, one of the branches will come crashing down and take out another board to my fence. Well, having a German Shepherd, I have to keep the fence well maintained, for my pup's safety and my neighbors. So I have to periodically go out and mend the fence with a new flat or panel..
A couple of days ago, another branch fell and totally crunched the new panel I just put in a few months ago. My wife got pissed and stormed over to her house and they got into a verbal throwdown on the lady's front porch. I could hear the pissin match from my living room lol
She called my wife a B**** Midget (my wife is 4'10 lol)
And my wife kept calling her an old ugly C word lolol
She said that she didn't have the money to have the trees taken down because of her older kids are back living at home and her last electric bill was over $900 lol
My wife told her that was her problem and part of being a homeowner is maintenence. After that followed a few more swear words and later, a few glasses of red lol
