I can tell you from my experience with hormone replacement therapy due to horrific perimenopause that when you start adding and subtracting hormones it doesn't just affect you physically.
I tested so low in testosterone that is was almost non-existent. In my case it presented as hormonal depression which is quite different than depression caused by true mental illness or circumstances. My body devoured the first two testosterone treatments it was so starved. It took about 6 months to feel back to normal though I felt 50% better after a month. And the thing that wiped out my natural testosterone? Meds for ADHD. Adderall, Ritalin and others deplete the body of testosterone and I've only taken it off and on (depending on my insurance status) since my mid-20s, around 1998. I was also estrogen dominant which almost always means too much progesterone. Trying to get those three hormones to relatively normal levels for my age has been a [BLEEP] and when you mess with those it affects your thyroid which can lead to other issues. I became hypothyroid so my doc put me on the lowest possible dose of thyroid meds to stop it from snowballing. That small amount elevated my cortisol levels and I gained 15lbs in 3 months and started feeling the hormonal depression again. I've stopped the thyroid meds and am working on reducing cortisol levels. Just stopping the meds had my mind feeling better in a matter of days.
I say all of that to say this-
Imagine all of these kids who have been taking Ritalin and Adderall since they were in elementary school, especially the boys. They didn't even hit puberty with all of their hormones at natural levels. It's no wonder they're confused about their gender.
And anyone who reads this who has the balls to say treating perimenopause and menopause is different than giving kids gender affirming hormone treatment, I say you're full of bull feces and you should sit down and shut up. You have no idea what you're talking about or you wouldn't say it in the first place. There are already enough things that affect our endocrine (hormone) system; food, environmental factors, water we drink, meds we take. Look up 'endocrine disruptors' some time. If these kids/young adults were given HRT to regulate their natural levels I believe they wouldn't have the issues they do with gender dysmorphia and mental health.
I would love to know how many parents who are advocating and pushing gender affirming hormone treatment and/or surgery ever had it themselves.

People are broken, dude. I don't know anybody that is 100% "normal." There is a huge difference between wanting to act like a woman or dress like a woman, knowing it's abnormal behavior, compared to believing you are literally a woman when you aren't. One of those is a mental disorder, the other is just typical human brokenness that has taken a peculiar form. I'm not here to judge. However, I do value truth, and I'm 100% against enabling fantasies that aren't rooted in reality.

Please give me a definitive definition of the word "normal"...... There is none........ What may seem "abnormal" to one, is perfectly normal behavior to another. One mans trash is another mans treasure, or so it has been said. Since I have never liked, nor have a followed the so called "Unwritten Rules" of society and what society considers the "norm", well........
