You just need to have more faith in Trump, Marty.
Do his dance for a few minutes and let the faith hit you from both sides.

I'm interested in how much we will have to spend to do this, and how it would be accomplished.

It's like when Steve Jobs said, "I want to be able to put all my music on this little device.  We'll call it an Ipod.  Get it done."  Someone has to figure out how to get it done.

Trump says, "Round 'em up and deport 'em. Get it done."  Someone has to figure out how to do it.  Where are they?  How do we find them and prove they are illegal?  How much money will we need, will we need to build temporary detention centers, will we need to hire more people, how do we physically move them to somewhere else, and who will take them?  And a hundred other questions.  It's not as simple as "Let's round 'em up and get 'em out of here."  We're talking about deporting between a million and 10 million people.  That is a massive undertaking.  And I am honestly interested in how it would all work.

I get the idea no one has given it much thought.

I don't.  I'm just saying, if you want to deport illegals, first you have to identify them.  How would we do that?  I'm not being negative, I'm just wondering, how do we make this program work?

(11-25-2024, 04:37 PM)flsprtsgod Wrote: [ -> ]Based on the last 4 years it's likely that there are 10 million already identified illegals here who need to be deported, many of whom just need the ride to the train station. Let's close the border to stop the inflow, deport all those we know about, and then we can worry about the rest!

Already identified?  I don't think so.  I think they pretty much faded into the woodwork.  Blended into to country as best they could.  They're mostly hiding.

And as far as just giving them a ride to the train station, they'd get off at the next stop.

I'm not trying to be negative.  I'm trying to figure out how this would work.  And how much it would cost.

It's pretty simple to do.

1.  It is well known that members of certain gangs came across the Biden/Harris border.  It is also well known that many of these illegal aliens ended up in some of the larger cities.

2.  These particular illegal aliens aren't here to work or "seek a better life" so they hang out on the streets of those cities during the day and prowl the streets at night.

3.  These particular illegal aliens have identifying tattoos on them as well as not having a proper ID.

Those are the first ones to go.

Contrary to liberal belief, President Trump isn't after the family that came here seeking a better life and is working hard in jobs that most of us are not willing to do for the wages offered.  He is looking for all of the criminals and violent people that Biden/Harris allowed to come across the border.
How much is it costing to give them places to stay, food stamps, healthcare? Funny how no one has been questioning those costs, just the costs of deporting them now…four years in to it. Wonder why that is?

Little to nothing. Legal immigrants don't even get those benefits! Let alone illegal. Some states provide them, but most states do not, Florida does not, and the Federal government does not. So for the purposes of our conversation, 0.

Now there are benefits they do get, that you didn't list.
Their kids do get to go to public school.
They sometimes show up at the emergency room and though they get a bill, they often do not pay it.
Those are less direct costs, and they're a drop in the bucket when looking at the overall immigration issue and the overall impact to the labor market and the economy.

Hope that helps, but I'm sure you didn't read that far, cuz you weren't actually looking for an honest answer to your question, because as usual you are not engaging in intellectual honesty or even in nice behavior.

Couple things. I am in a wait and see mode on this. The audits done of agencies will give the answer she is looking for, so what you believe is correct will either be verified or proved false in the future.  As for the judgement in the last sentence? No words needed, we all make allowances for you.

Not nice behavior? Thank you, I needed that laugh.  Laughing

So round up people on street corners?

That’s going to go over well. I smell a lawsuit coming.

It’s nearly impossible to spot an illegal immigrant just by looking at them and you can’t just go around detaining everyone. Even if some have the tattoo you speak of, you’re opening yourself to lawsuits by wrongfully detaining people.

I’m all for sending illegal immigrants back but it seems like a job that would have no end and no real starting point.

Ok, let's start small then. You guys assume we don't know who and where these people are but the police records of any major city is the perfect place to start. Any criminal arrested in the USA for a felony who is determined to be here illegally gets the death penalty. One of three things will happen: 1. We put some really bad people to death and remove them from our society. 2. Some really bad people head for the border to avoid that fate or 3. Some really bad people quit being bad so they can stay here and not die (and we'll find and deport them eventually). No matter which one happens our society will be better of for it.

Finding them is not too hard. We tend to over complicate things. Just sit back and wait. As a reference and maybe a few laughs a few laws below for entering illegally.

This sets the stage nicely for Trump to claim he never really meant to impose tariffs.
