Good lord, Trump's mugshot is scary!

The first thing that came to mind was that image of Big Brother in the movie 1984. Not an exact match but they favor each other a bit, lol.

This seems bizarre. The DOJ is suing SpaceX because they have not been hiring asylum seekers and refugees. It’s surprising that industries operating with sensitive and proprietary technologies are forced to hire anyone who walks across the border and gives a story to claim asylum.

I ran across an article a few months ago about Border Patrol agents finding asylum seekers from China walking across the border who were highly educated with science and aerospace backgrounds. Our laws literally say that aerospace, and other companies working with sensitive and proprietary technologies, must regard them for employment since they are asylees, and thus have the same rights as U.S. workers.

I work with ITAR and EAR stuff all the time. I find it shocking that non U.S. citizens are allowed to work in such close proximity to it.

Crazy.

Very bizarre. It’s not like we haven’t had a rash of cases of foreign nationals spying. Asylum seekers should be treated humanely but *forcing* our technology companies to hire them seems like overreach or worse.

The fact that they even did a mug shot and made him post bond is shameful.  It was done and made public in an attempt to humiliate him, nothing more.

It was a backfire before the mugshot even happened..

Trump is selling them on his website but the others will probably have to deal with some legal issues when he sues them for using his likeness.

If he’s convicted, I’d imagine he’ll not be allowed to profit from it so it will be interesting to see if he can retain the profits from those sales. My guess is anything pre-conviction will remain his but we’ll see.

No one honestly denies it. Some will make their bottom lip tremble while mewling something about January 6th, but deep down we all know why.

How does that argument differ for anyone that gets indicted? Regardless of how you feel about the justification of the indictment, mug shots and bonds are part of the process. He’s not being treated any less fairly than anyone else would be.

Oh come on MarleyJag, what purpose does making a former President post bond serve?  He is certainly not a flight risk with all of the Secret Service around him 24/7.  That is the sole purpose of assigning bond to someone that has been arrested.

The same thing regarding the mug shot.  He is one of the most recognizable people in the country and is not a flight risk.

Both things are purely political stunts meant to humiliate him, nothing more.  Like him or hate him he deserves the proper respect.  I would say the same thing if something like this was done to President Obama.

Is your position that people like Obama or Trump should get special treatment not granted ordinary citizens because…they’re famous? Have money? Held office?

On this you and I just fundamentally disagree.

I respect your proported consistency on the issue, but, the bond and the mug shot have absolutely zero impact on our lives and zero impact on the future of the Republic.

True statement, but that's not what he said.

Yes, the mugshot and bond do not provide any practical benefit to aid in the processes for which they were created, and yes, it is politically driven.

But...........the legal process deserves greater respect than any individual, regardless of office.  If Trump wasn't such an arrogant donkey's butt, he would have turned the event into an opportunity, stating this emphatically to the press on the way into and again coming out the arraignment.  He could have taken a few questions, reasserting his innocence, belief in the fairness of the system, country comes first, etc.  As usual, he's his own worst enemy.

My position is that people like President Obama and President Trump are afforded a certain level of respect due to the position that they held.  It might be perceived as "special treatment" by some, but that is something that they have both earned.  (By the way... both men earned the title of "President".  In my opinion the title should be used whenever someone speaks about either one of them).

Being famous or rich has nothing to do with it.  It's all about the respect for the position that they once held.

When I was in the military, I had commanding officers that I despised, yet I always greeted them with a proper salute and addressed them appropriately.  It's not about the person, it's about the position.

Again, the bond and mug shot were inappropriate and totally unnecessary.  It's clear that it was political in order to humiliate.
