AP FACT CHECK: Visa overstays outpace border crossings | AP News
Illegal immigration to the United States - Wikipedia
"Between 2007-2018, visa overstays have accounted for a larger share of the growth in the illegal immigrant population than illegal border crossings"
Modes of Entry for the Unauthorized Migrant Population | Pew Research Center
Some of these sources say it's about half, one says it's slightly less than half, and the others say it's more than half. Regardless, to control illegal immigration, we need to do a lot more than just close the Mexican border. Like I said, closing the Mexican border will not in itself solve the illegal immigration problem. Somewhere around half of the illegal immigrants in the US came in legally and didn't leave.

Your "research" contains no data from the Biden administration, making it obsolete and irrelevant. Forget outdated historical percentages because that's not the world we're living in today and focus on the hard numbers. How many migrants have entered the country illegally in the last four years?
You tell us.
Then tell us how many have overstayed their visa.
Then see if Marty is wrong.

It's tough to tackle this, the subject in general and where you attempt to pull your information from can have you pinballing like a mad man. I think, personally, it's like a case of termites. You're not going to know the full extent of the damage until something noticeably gives out physically from your foundation and it reveals them all at once.
You're going to have to crack down on employers and then crack down on folks that are committing crimes and really focusing on known cities where illegals would most likely be found. People talk. You'll need a task force to figure it out. Again, whether the number is 1.7M, 10M, 17M or somewhere between 3.5M - 5M.
Trying to figure out a way to identify roughly 888,000 people per month for the next four years (10M estimated in total), or, 416,000 per month for the next four years (5M estimated in total). It'll be a colossal undertaking, require a lot of time, dedication and resources. Each case will vary, it will be unique, potentially bothersome if they've recently started a family, etc.
I just don't see it being 100% accomplishable.

Instead, how about you tell us?
How many illegal aliens walked across the open Biden/Harris border over the last 3 1/2 years? How many of them are essentially "slaves" that owe the cartels that got them to the border and across? How many were trafficked to become sex workers?
What about the estimated number of illegal aliens that are "got aways"? You know, the ones not seeking asylum that didn't want to get caught?
You liberals have your heads either buried in the sand or up another orifice if you think that the problem is "overstaying visas".

NO one is saying we should not get control of the border, and NO one is defending Biden/Harris on that issue.
Someone said, Trump policy = close the border= 0 illegals. I'm just saying, yes, by all means, close the border, but be aware, it won't get you to zero. You have to also deal with the fact that large numbers of illegal aliens are people who came in legally, and never left. 50 million tourists come in from foreign countries every year. A lot of them decide to stay. That's a
big problem. And that's a big chunk of the illegals that are in this country.

And you don't think it's easier to deport those documented illegals? Really?

How are they getting all their free handouts every month? They know exactly where these people are at. All the free stuff is tracking all of them. The smart ones aren't collecting anything and there their free phones away immediately.

If they aren't removing RFK from swing state ballots, I'd hope the GOP is fighting to keep Biden on there as well.

Post 9,547. Nobody believes a zero count on illegal border crossings is obtainable. The point, which you're missing or ignoring, is that Republican policy establishes zero as the target goal. The Democrats have no target. They've put out the Welcome mat to any and all and simply don't care.
Didn't the Democrats propose limiting illegal crossings to 5,000/day several months ago when trying to get a budget passed? 1,825,000 illegal entries per year is their compromise number! How much greater is the actual count? Supporting Biden/Harris IS defending them on this issue.
Those who enter legally, but stay, are a problem, but we know who they are. We can find and deport them, if we so choose. It's just a matter of having the political will to get the job done and it will never happen under a Democratic administration.

That would have been an act of Congress.
Those would have become legal crossings.
Most of us can agree that we continue to need legal immigration, and many of us would say that we could even use a little more than we have now.
And all of us should say that's there should be no acceptance of illegal immigration.
So logically speaking, what almost all of us want is to allow a few more people across the border legally, and then make a very strong effort to make sure no more than that number crosses.
The real problem is no one trusts any Democrat to make that kind of effort, and very few trust Republicans either.
