The reason so many Dems and organizations are apoplectic at Trump, Musk and the DOGE is because they're exposing everything and people are losing money, position and influence in public. The only reason we're not hearing a bunch of whining from Reps/RINOs is because they can't say [BLEEP] in public but you can bet your [BLEEP] they're hand wringing and pearl clutching just the same.

No, most of you are very confident in your own perception of reality. When someone like p_rushing or SC1 comes in with some distortion or some lies from the right, none of you correct him. You guys are just super gullible for right wing lies. Your BS detectors only work one way.
Now if we want to start, from now on, being more skeptical of narratives from all sides, left, right, European, Russian, MAGA, by all means let's do it. But we'd all have to change together.
You're so precious.
I've always said I'm skeptical of the media across the board. I don't trust it because the people driving it have agendas that are not good for this country as a whole or for its people. If I refuted everything posted here that I don't agree with I'd practically live here and I don't have time for it. Plus, I can't even get on here 80% of the time anymore and when I do I'm trying to catch up on things. More often than not I've replied to comments only for them to be lost in space because the board has timed out.
As for your very last sentence, be your own man. As the saying goes, 'be the change you want to see in the world'. Don't wait for others to be better, just be better. You'd be surprised at how your outlook changes when you take the first step.
I tried to get on here yesterday to remark about what Margaret Brennan said on Face the Nation but the site kept crashing.
She said the Nazis weaponized free speech to commit genocide. She actually said it. I was aghast.
Happily, News Nation has picked up on it and has asked for a response from CBS.
This is our MSM, folks.
Edit: JD Vance commenting on it as well.

What the hell? Scratch her credibility. It seems the left is not happy that normal Americans are no longer afraid of speaking their mind. So they are trying to build a case against it using the press.

What's controversial? It's a common observation, and a common partial explanation of how Nazis came to power. It's known as Popper's Paradox of Tolerance.
Now, is society today in a situation where some people are calling for dehumanization and mass murder? Not in the US. But in the middle east, absolutely. In 1930s Germany, absolutely.

This theory was not the cause of the rise of Hitler, Nazi's and the genocide that followed. The general public is , after the election, is not afraid to speak their mind for fear of ridicule and being canceled by the left. I see it as the beginning of another attempt by the left to silence those that disagree with them. Like Morning Joe said, it is the job of the legacy press to tell people what to think. LOL

In Germany in the 1920s and early 1930s there was free speech. The Nazis might not have been able to come to power without it. Maybe they come to power regardless. No one knows.
Liberals also equivocate when discussing this. They all agree that "the Nazis coming to power" was a tragedy but they disagree about why. Some think there was a way to maintain the terms of Versailles without another all-out war between Germany and France, and some say the war was inevitable but the Holocaust was not. Some say both were were inevitable and the Nazis just made both worse. So the stakes of the discussion aren't well defined.
Regardless, free speech in Germany made it easier for Nazis to come to power. Fact. Deal with it.
Is that applicable to our situation today, no. But it is a historic fact.

LOL, not a FACT, maybe in your own mind. I disagree on your interpretation of history and I am not alone. I believe the unfortunate news lady that was chosen to try what you are attempting is currently catching all kind of heat for espousing the same misinformation. I say chosen as she is an actor reading lines not a journalist. So deal with that.

So if the Weimar government determined to not respect free speech, and to put Hitler and everyone else involved in the Beer Hall Putsch in jail or worse, Hitler still comes to power? In the scenario where Germany doesn't have free speech, Hitler probably doesn't make it out of 1923 alive, let alone with anyone knowing his name.

Here you go. Since you know my opinion read this one an excerpt, link below it. Seems I am not the only one that disagrees with you. I chose the Yahoo as they actually lean a bit left in my opinion. There are many others all saying the same. enjoy
CBS host Margaret Brennan made what many called an "incredibly dumb" and "deeply ignorant" statement claiming Nazi Germany "weaponized free speech" during her show on Sunday.

Hmm and she didn't say that? She certainly had the chance. It is like saying it was the fault of the color Brown the Nazi's came to power. If there was no color brown then the Brown Shirts could not have been formed. You off you meds?

The ability to speak freely exists everywhere, some places they punish and persecute you. Kind of like what the Nazi's did when they came to power or the Dems were doing the last 4 years.

I am not arguing against free speech.
Even if the Weimar government executed all the Nazis in 1923, France and Germany probably still go to war by the 1940s and there might have been a genocide or two to go along with it.
Even so, the lady was not wrong to attribute the rise of Nazis in particular to free speech.

A. The actress pretending to be a journalist was completely wrong, your interpretation of what she was attempting to do is incorrect. She plays people like you, but not someone like Rubio.
B. They punished the people whose opinion and politics that did speak up did not fit their agenda. The IRS, FBI, DOJ, USAID, the cancel culture you name it.
